Wind Load

Florida FEMA specs. state 200mph max wind load. Because of the shelters design of a hexagon design shape the wind load is greatly deflected by the angle of the sides and ends. (FEMA's wind load specs are for flat surfaces) The 29,000 pounds plus, per square inch of tensile yield strength of the material is much greater that the wind load spec. of 252# per sq foot for 5 seconds.

MISSILE TEST SPEC.

Below you will see that 12 gauge (.080 thick) steel (, 26100 - 34800 psi) has passed the FEMA missile tests.

The aluminum used in the Storm safe shelter is more than twice the thickness (.190) and has a Tensile Strength, Yield of 29,000 pounds per square inch.
